Over time, /tmp on a BBS gets filled up with leftover temporary files that were not deleted and thus will linger around until a reboot occurs.

This includes:

bouncemsgXXXXXX files
smtpXXXXXX files
Lots of random files with filenames with non-ASCII characters, typically created the 1st of the month.

To investigate further, a reboot should be performed on a busy system and then /tmp watched for these things appearing and investigating in a timely manner thereafter.
