If using Asterisk as a voicemail server (rather than client), it is logical to want SMDI server functionality (rather than client only, as exists now)

This would allow voicemails to be stored on Asterisk and Asterisk to inform the switch of voicemail information. In other words, this feature is required in order to use Asterisk purely as a voicemail server.
