There is a WIP patch for this that can be resubmitted. On the Gerrit review, Josh was skeptical if this patch was necessary if systemd and the like could prevent it. The patch mainly applies to systems that do not have something supervising the asterisk process.

If it is not accepted, this should be included in PhreakScript and resolved.
